Description
As part of the Trans Care Project, a joint initiative of the Transgender Health Program and Transcend Transgender Support & Education Society (with funding by the Canadian Rainbow Health Coalition), local and international experts in transgender care worked with local members of the transgender community to create 7 sets of guidelines for health and social service providers in BC, and 17 health information booklets for transgender people and loved ones.
The purpose of this consumer booklet is to:
• explain how hormones work
• describe the changes to expect from MTF hormones, and outline risks and possible side effects
• give you information about how to maximize the benefits and minimize the risks
This booklet is written specifically for people in the MTF spectrum who are considering taking hormones. It may also be a helpful resource for partners, family, and friends who are wondering how hormones work and what they do.
