Our directory lists health, legal, and social service providers as well as programs that have expressed a commitment to providing competent and welcoming care to LGBTQ parents, prospective parents, and their children.

While the emphasis is on listings within the greater Toronto area, it includes listings from across Ontario.

Many families are unsure where to start to find LGBTQ competent lawyers, family doctors, fertility clinics, adoption professionals, doulas, midwives, or child care workers. This directory allows LGBTQ people to search for providers within their geographic area who have experience working with our communities.

Rainbow Health Ontario provides a similar directory which includes only health and social service providers across Ontario.

Lindsey White is a practicing Naturopathic Doctor in Toronto. As a member of the LGBQT community I have a strong passion and understanding for the communities health needs. I have worked with members of the community in different contexts. I have also had the opportunity to attend Dykes planning Tykes course.

What is Naturopathic Medicine?
Naturopathic medicine is a distinct system of primary care that addresses the root cause of illness or disease and promotes health and healing using natural therapies. While Naturopathic care helps to alleviate specific symptoms and improve quality of life, Naturopathic Doctors are primarily concerned with thoroughly understanding a patient’s health and addressing the root cause of an illness by providing individualized treatment plans.

Naturopathic Doctors approach individuals or couples from a more holistic and integrative perspective and aim to understand the health of the patient through physical and functional assessments which help develop a deeper understanding of the patient’s health concerns – in addition, naturopathic doctors will explore the mental, emotional, environmental, occupational, and physical factors that contribute to the health concerns and make recommendations to treat specific diseases and promote health and well-being

About Lindsey White
I am a graduate of the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine and
I specialize in mental health and mind-body integrative medicine. I started studying naturopathic after completing my Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology and my yoga teacher training. Health and, more important, improving ones quality of life are at the forefront of both my professional and personal life. I was specifically drawn to naturopathic medicine because of its holistic approach to ones health and well being. I will work with you to create a space that is safe to examine your physical and mental wellbeing and help you make changes appropriate to your own life and circumstances.

As a member of the community I understand the specific health needs. I take a holistic approach, which allows individuals and couples to explore their own health including LGBQT issues. Specific issues can be related to but not limited to mental health (stress, anxiety, depression, weight loss), fertility issues (hormone support) and general lifestyle improvements (digestion, sleep, pain). I use individualized treatment plans that will include nutrition, herbs, homeopathy, acupuncture and counseling.

Homeopathic treatment has an excellent track record in helping patients recover rapidly and gently from their health issues. Homeopathy is extremely effective in treating ailments of all kinds including:
• First aid ailments
• Acute Infectious diseases
• Chronic conditions
• Hormonal difficulties
• Children’s health issues

Since homeopathic remedies do not have any chemical toxicity, they are safe for even the most sensitive patients, such as pregnant people, infants and the elderly.

An Introduction to Homeopathy

Homeopathic Medicine emerged from the scientific studies and writings of Dr Samuel Hahnemann (1755-1843). Dr Hahnemann discovered that the symptoms which a substance produced in a healthy person were the same symptoms that a homeopathically prepared remedy was able to cure in a sick individual. This led him to adopt the “law of similar” as a universal therapeutic principle. The name “homeopathy” comes from the Greek homoion + pathos, meaning “the cure is like the disease.”

How does Homeopathy Work?

Homeopathy works by enhancing the self-healing powers of the patient, enabling the patient’s system to heal itself in all areas which are out of balance including mental, emotional and physical. The homeopathically prepared remedy provokes a healing reaction by an individual’s own system which then induces a recovery or a cure. The remedy acts as a catalyst that triggers this healing response, like a match igniting a fire.

Homeopathy is effective because it targets the underlying cause of disease. From a homeopathic perspective, the fundamental cause of disease is a unique inherent susceptibility of an individual to certain illnesses. A well chosen homeopathic remedy normalizes an individual’s susceptibilities. The strengthened vital system can cure itself of most disease states and the individual gains a lowered level of susceptibility to future illness.
